This is the Farmhouse Family Restaurant. Interestingly enough, this restaurant is not on US Highway 411, Etowah’s main street through town. It sits back a block on a mostly residential street. If you weren’t looking for it, you probably wouldn’t know it was there. There is only a small undistinguished sign on the US 411 to indicate where this restaurant is located. The country ‘look’ is warm and appealing, don’t you think?
This photo gives you an idea as to the décor inside The Farm House restaurant. Mismatched chairs and tables plus a lot of country style decorations blended in with relics from an old farm. The feeling is warm and friendly…
There are a number of basic appetizers on the menu. We went with the deep fried jalapeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese. They were very nice.
Laurie went with a salad as an accompaniment to the sandwich she ordered. The ingredients were fresh and crisp…
Laurie ordered her second favorite sandwich with her salad…its a Patty Melt.(Her #1 sandwich is a Lobster Roll). She reported that it was a very delicious sandwich, juicy and flavorful, though she was surprised it wasn't on rye bread. Still, she really enjoyed it!
I saw this handformed double cheeseburger on the menu…I love burgers…but I hesitated to order it because of Tennessee’s overcautious food safety requirement that all hamburgers have to be cooked completely through. That practice dries out the burgers and kills off the flavor of the meat. However, I let the waitress talk me into ordering this big double cheeseburger with a loaded baked potato as my side. She said that it was still plenty juicy...
Unfortunately, I should have gone with my instincts. While it was big and it wasn’t awful, it was cooked to the degree that it wasn’t a really good cheeseburger. It was too dry and it was just OK. The loaded baked potato with the hunks of bacon, along with plenty of butter and cheese, was very satisfying.
We were quite full but it’s hard to pass up a nice slice of pie. We decided to split a piece of Coconut Cream Pie…and started eating it before we remembered to take a photo! It was a very good piece of pie…
We will return to The Farmhouse Family Restaurant. It’s a good experience with down home/southern cooking and the price is right! Our dinner with the appetizer, entrees and piece of pie plus tax cost just a little over $25.00. Service was friendly and efficient…even if the burger recommendation wasn’t right on…
