…continuing
with the recent visit of Laurie’s sister Bonnie, her husband Bill and their
granddaughter Avery.
Rather
than publish back-to-back posts about the Tennessee Aquarium, I thought that I’d
give readers a break and skip ahead to our dinner following our exploration of
the aquarium.
It’s been
a couple of years since we dined at the Boathouse Rotisserie and Raw Bar. The last time we were here was when our
friends Bob and Nona visited us from Clearwater Florida. They enjoyed it and since both Bonnie and
Bill love seafood, this was an easy choice.
This is a
large and expansive restaurant. Note the
huge bar area! The dining space is even
bigger and in nice weather, the outside deck area overlooking the Tennessee
River is a popular place for drinks and meals.
The whole restaurant has a ‘beachy’ waterfront feel to it…
I was
able to avoid having my photo taken as I had the camera! Here’s our group. From the left: Avery, Bonnie, Bill and
Laurie.
Bill and
Bonnie started out with a dozen Fresh Shucked Chesapeake Bay Oysters on the
half shell. ($16.00) Bill in particular loves oysters and he was a happy
camper.
Of
course, one of our goals was to make Avery happy. So, Bonnie and Bill ordered her some nachos
with queso cheese dip and 2 different salsas.
Laurie
and I ordered the Wood Grilled Squid with Arugula, Feta, Roasted Garlic and
Lemon…all tossed over a hot wood fire and served with grilled Neidlov’s Sourdough
Bread. ($13.50) The consensus was that it was OK but there were a lot more
onions (not listed on the menu) than there was squid. The sauce was nice but overall, this wasn’t a
particularly outstanding choice.
On the
other hand, this Feta Cheese Dip appetizer with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Lemon
and Roasted Garlic served with the Neidlov’s Sourdough Bread was very good
indeed! ($10.00) I could have eaten this all by myself!
Bonnie
and Avery shared an order of Fried Catfish served with Tatar and Cocktail Sauce
and sided with a large pile of Olive Fries. ($15.00) FYI, Olive Fries are
French Fries fried in Olive Oil. The order also included a side of Island Slaw. Both of Avery and Bonnie
were happy with their meal.
Bill
wanted to try something different so he ordered the Wood Grilled Branzino Sea
Bass Filet which was served with lightly wilted spinach. ($28.00) The filet was
grilled over a wood fire and then was served with lemon, parsley, roasted
garlic and olive oil. Bill really
enjoyed his entrée!
After
working through the various appetizers, Laurie opted for something on the light
side for dinner. This was her Catfish
Taco Dinner. ($13.00) The catfish was fried in corn meal and served with
roasted salsa, margarita sauce, cabbage, green onion, cilantro, and feta
cheese. Her meal came with black beans
and rice as well. She thought that the
tacos were very nice and just right following all of the ‘starters’ we’d gone
through…
As for my
entrée, I went with the Fried Shrimp sided with black beans and rice. ($23.00)
My 6 extra-large shrimp were very big and they were cooked just right. They were accompanied by house made cocktail
sauce with fresh grated horseradish root…my kind of spice/heat! Normally the shrimp are accompanied with both
tartar and cocktail sauce but I’m not a fan of tartar sauce. I was very content when I finished my dinner.
All in
all, this was another good experience at the Boathouse Rotisserie and Raw Bar. It was our second visit and we’ll be
back! This restaurant is located at 1459
Riverside Drive in Chattanooga Tennessee.
They are open from 11:00 AM until 10 PM daily. Phone: 423-622-0122. Their website is at: https://boathousechattanooga.com/.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!
Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
I like the looks of the coating on your shrimp.
ReplyDeleteI looove seafood, friend David. Awesome pics of your chosen dishes! Even went to the restaurant's website in order to see some more of that goodness. Bit pricey though, eh? O, and also looove rowing … smiles … https://youtu.be/F3kbqoz-XzQ?list=UU2Quq49QsjzAQNsGwsr5l1Q. Always, cat.
ReplyDeletePS: While looking at your post, I suddenly remembered my meal cooking away on the stove … sadly I ruined it, but at least the house didn't burn down … thanks to you, friend David … smiles … Love, cat
