Breakfast at Rendezvous Restaurant – Loudon TN

Before I get into my observations re: our latest breakfast out, I thought I should start the day with a recent local weather report from East Tennessee...

On February 8th we had to get up early.  Now that we're retired, we are almost never up at the crack of dawn but Laurie took one look at the sunrise and she snapped this photo.  Note the complete lack of snow!

Two to three hours later, Laurie took these photos of our house and adjoining woods.  We had a sudden snowfall blow through, only our second of the winter.  FYI, it was completely melted by mid-afternoon.  It was pretty while it lasted but having lived in Chicago for many years, this is what we now consider to be ‘the perfect snow storm’!

We were out and about running errands the other morning and we decided to stop in for a late breakfast at a new area restaurant.  Rendezvous Restaurant now occupies the space in Tellico Village/Loudon Tennessee, that’s been the site of at least 2 other restaurants in recent history.  This was the home of Larry’s Momma’s Grits in its last iteration…and we liked it a lot!  Health issues forced Larry to give it up…

Time to give the new restaurant a try!

The inside of the space has changed very little.  The back wall still has its mural from the time it was Classico Italian but the side walls somehow seems more bare.  i believe art work of different types use to adorn the walls but maybe my recall isn’t ‘perfect’.

I’ve included photos of the menu.  Rendezvous is open for breakfast and lunch only.  The breakfast menu is the normal standard fare with a couple of exceptions given the fact that this is a small town restaurant.  Chicken and Waffles and a Brunch Burger are 2 items that you don’t usually see.  Also, customers can create their own breakfast from the ala carte menu.  That’s a good thing for a restaurant located next to what is basically a retirement community.

The lunch menu doesn’t stray too far from ‘the usual’ either.  However, for a bit of variety, they do offer Santa Fe Chicken and Baked Cod along with a side Greek Pasta Salad.

Of course, our test of any breakfast establishment are the basics, so that’s what we ordered…

Laurie decided to order one of her go to breakfast items…the Eggs Benedict. ($10.00) For her side, she chose hash brown potatoes.  One positive for the food is that our plates were hot…

FYI, the coffee ($2.25 each) was good and refills were readily provided.
On the negative side however was the fact that 2 or 3 other customers who came into Rendezvous after we did received their food first.  Not a huge problem except that it took an inordinate amount of time to get our food.

When it was served, it looked OK although I would have wanted a bit more Hollandaise Sauce if it were mine and Laurie 2nd that. Plus, hash browns were a bit cool.  But Laurie said the 'big negative' for her was that the poached eggs were overdone!  They should have had a nice runny yolk.

My breakfast was pretty much in line with true early morning basics.  The Egg Platter with 2 eggs over-easy, a side of hash browns, 2 sausage patties and rye toast. ($8.25) It was a decent breakfast with the eggs cooked as ordered and the sausage patties were a good quality.  I was a little surprised that I only got a single slice of toast but perhaps they’d been in contact with my doctor…

We'll need to return in the not too distant future to see if Rendezvous’ sausage gravy is on a par with Mama’s Grits version.  Rendezvous Restaurant is located at 206 Village Square Drive in Loudon Tennessee.  Phone: 865-657-6300.  They can be found on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/rendezvoustellico/.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

  1. Their menu and the food looks good but an overcooked egg is a big negative for me.

  2. Agree with Larry! When I order eggs benedict and the egg is overcooked I send it back every time. Breakfast places with benedicts need to know what they are doing but it is surprising how often they don't.

  3. An overcooked egg is a deal breaker for sure! Sounds like to me you're more than happy with such mild winters you have there. Guess you won't be returning for another winter here! Actually, it was in the 30's today but then it started raining and then, guess what! It snowed! Could be worse, for sure! Have a great rest of the week!
