Dawn
Marie was visiting us between business trips…arriving from Washington D.C., and
then flying off to New York City following her stay with us... and a few days later to London and Zurich. It was time for dinner and we all agreed that
we should find a Mexican Restaurant to satisfy our needs.
This is
El Senor Rancho Mexican Restaurant. It’s
located in a strip shopping center in a location that has served as a home for
at least 2 other restaurants. FYI…Lenoir
City has at least 5 full-blown Mexican restaurants with 4 others nearby in
Loudon County. El Senor Rancho is the
newest addition to the group.
These 2
photos above show the brightly decorated dining room (with Laurie and Dawn Marie at
our table) followed by a closer look at the bar area at El Senor Rancho. (Note: It was before 5 PM when we arrived for dinner)
Laurie and
Dawn Marie both had Margarita’s and I stuck with an El Sol Mexican beer.
In
addition to the obligatory basket of tortilla chips and a couple of small bowls
of salsa (no photo needed), we decided to try El Senor Rancho’s version of Choriqueso.
($6.99)
Yes it
did look too oily when it was served but when we mixed the cheese up with the
topping of ground chorizo, it turned out to be perhaps the best version of this
appetizer in the area… One key extra ingredient were slices of jalapeno!
For her
dinner, Dawn Marie ordered a Taco Salad. ($8.49) The flour tortilla shell was
filled with ground beef, then topped with lettuce, tomato, guacamole and sour
cream… It was very satisfying, especially after the ‘rich’ cheesy appetizer with
chorizo.
Laurie
stuck to a version of her favorite Mexican fare…a Quesadilla, in this case a Grande
Quesadilla filled with cheese and mushrooms. ($10.99) As you can see in the
photo it came with pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole and lettuce. Extra sour cream and guacamole were in order
to complete her feast! She loved this entrée!
As for
yours truly, I ordered one of my favorites too.
This was my Chile Colorado. ($10.99) It consists of chopped pieces or
slices of steak with salsa ranchera and it was served with rice, beans and warm
flour tortillas. There was just enough ‘heat’
in my ranchera sauce to make me happy and this version measures up nicely with similar
dishes offered by competitors in the area.
We all
enjoyed our meals, the portions were quite large, the service was efficient and
the restaurant was clean. We will return
to El Senor Rancho to try some other offerings but, we still have 2 or 3 other
Mexican restaurants to try in this immediate area.
El Senor
Rancho Mexican Restaurant in located at 149 Kelsey Lane in Lenoir City
Tennessee. Phone: 865-816-6868. This restaurant is on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/El-señor-rancho-mexican-restaurant-now-open-122377298322702/.

Star Wars, a big fruity drink, and a taco salad...this is the life. :)

Looks good! Mexican food is everywhere here but all pretty much the same.
ReplyDeleteYum, friend David … I have a Mexican restaurant literally on my door step and do enjoy their recommended foods … but on a scale of 1 to 3 it's my third choice … as 1st is Greek food followed by Indian cuisine and then Mexican … never been sick with any of them. Happy 4th of July celebrations coming up for you peeps shortly … Love, cat.
