Laurie,
her sisters Bonnie and Karole, with me at the wheel were just driving around
and exploring the Wisconsin countryside between planned family activities…
It was
time for lunch so Laurie got out her phone and found a diner style restaurant
for us to try.
This is
Grace’s Family Restaurant in Wisconsin Rapids...with Bonnie,Karole and Laurie standing in front. The restaurant has only been in business for about 3 years. Best of all, only one of Laurie’s Wisconsin cousins
even knew where it was!
This is
the dining area at Grace’s… The ladies are seated in the middle of the
photo. It was a busy place!
While the
rest of us decided to have breakfast, (served all day!), Karole wasn’t very
hungry so she just ordered this nice fresh side salad.
FYI, the
menu at Grace’s is comprised of 7 pages of decision making for the diner! Besides 2 pages dedicated to breakfast, other
choices include burgers, a plethora of sandwiches, wraps, salads, soup,
entrees, stir fry, Mexican, Italian, seafood (including fried perch), steaks
and chops, daily specials (including walleye), both seniors and children’s
options and dessert!
Bonnie
ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict with ham/Canadian bacon. ($7.99) It was more food than she
could eat!
FYI…bottomless
cups of coffee were only $1.49!
I chose
the House Benedict with kielbasa, tomatoes, poached eggs and the Hollandaise
sauce. ($8.99) Other Benedict options include one with bacon and the Southern
version with sausage patties. Talk about
generous portions!
Laurie
went with the classic breakfast…2 over easy eggs, hash brown potatoes, toast
and 4 slices of bacon. I was stunned at the
price, only $4.99! Even more
importantly, she rated her breakfast as above average, or very good…
This one
was my fault…but who doesn't have pie with breakfast!? We’d noticed home baked pies when we sat down so I 'had to' try a
slice of this apple pie. Laurie had a
couple of bites but I ‘had to’ finish it.
It too was above average.
OK…Grace’s
Family Restaurant isn’t a gourmet restaurant or even the best breakfast place
that we’ve ever experienced. But the
food is competent/above average, portions are huge and the prices are a throw-
back to another time! We would eat at
Grace’s at least a couple of times a month if it were located anywhere near
us. No such luck!
Grace’s
Family Restaurant is open 7 days a week and it’s located at 1371 8th
Street in Wisconsin Rapids Wisconsin.

The breakfast meals all look very good and Pat W has been know to order pie with breakfast.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks good to me, except for the Eggs Bendedict. That classic breakfast takes the cake though! Yum! The pie looks good too, I've had my share of pie for breakfast. I'm a pie junkie so I understand the 'pressure' you were under to finish that slice of pie! ☺
ReplyDelete:) Love, cat.
