Not the Best Week Ever…

Excitement reigned as we prepared for a 10 day visit from Laurie’s sister Bonnie and her husband Bill!  Even better, they would be here for Bill’s ‘landmark’ birthday…

But sometimes the best laid plans go awry!

We did celebrate Bill’s birthday with a cake and horrible off-key singing.  There is another reason why he didn’t look too celebratory in the photo… Shortly after he arrived, he wasn’t feeling right so Bonnie tested him for Covid.  Bingo!  He tested positive so he was stuck at our home for 5 days.  We all “masked up” but while Laurie, Bonnie and yours truly got out and about a bit, poor Bill was trapped.

Following Bill’s 5 days of isolation and the end of his Covid misery (and the ability to ‘shed’ the virus), Bonnie tested negative for the virus and we headed over to Asheville North Carolina for an overnighter.

Laurie took this photo of Bill, myself and Bonnie wearing our fashion statements… Why were we masked up again?  No sooner than we’d returned from our overnighter and Bonnie tested positive for Covid… I followed in her nasal footsteps a day later.  So…Laurie apparently had escaped the dreaded virus!

Not so fast!  Bill and Bonnie had decided to drive home to isolate and heal, rather than sticking it out here.  But, before they left, Laurie was tested once again…and this time she joined our group of masked virus laden fun loving folks.  None of us had it too bad…more like a bad cold or sinusitis.  Still we all feel pretty uncomfortable and a bit miserable.  It could have been much worse, especially given our ages and vulnerabilities.  But we had received our vaccinations as well as the initial boosters.

We surly are looking forward to our next round of Covid boosters!

Bottom line…I feel bad enough that I’d have a hard time focusing on a creative post for my blog site.  Perhaps by Friday…

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

  2. Sounds like your shots kept you from having bad cases of Covid. We got our new booster and flu shots yesterday.

  3. So sorry to hear how you all shared air and virus particles together...isolation would perhaps of prevented it, but who goes visiting to sit alone in a room! I'm taking it easy today, though had hoped to return to the gym for rehab, so I certainly am among the old fashioned healers saying, listen to your body!

  4. While i was glad to read that Bill was able to celebrate his birthday, the rest of the post went downhill. Hope you will all be feeling better soon. AT least you were not horribly ill thanks to having been vaccinated.
