Sweetwater Tennessee - Time for Lunch!

On a recent Saturday, we’d wandered down to the expansive indoor/outdoor Sweetwater Flea Market… After a couple of purchases and given our late morning start, our timing was right on cue for us to stop somewhere in the area for lunch.

This is Bradley’s Pit Bar-B-Que in Sweetwater Tennessee.  It is a popular local restaurant that is always clean and well maintained.  For travelers, this restaurant is also conveniently close to I-75.

The inside of the restaurant is simple but pleasant.  It’s actually has quite a large dining area.  I was impressed by the fact that the owner watched everything that was going on in his restaurant.  He seemed to be very involved…and he made a round of all the tables asking how everything was.

We’ve eaten at Bradley’s a couple of times before… The first time was more than 5 years ago and we ordered the BBQ.  We were spoiled by and used to Kansas City BBQ and to be honest, we weren’t impressed.  However, a couple of months ago we’d stopped by for lunch and we’d both ordered cheeseburgers.  They were the best we’ve had in East Tennessee!

So… Not being too imaginative, on this visit I ordered another cheeseburger!  For adventure, I did go with the Bacon Cheeseburger. ($8.25 with 1 side) From the plethora of sides offered, I chose the coleslaw.  The slaw was pretty good and the cheeseburger was almost as good as the one I was served on our previous visit.  The only difference was that it was medium and I’d ordered medium rare.  It was still juicy, they didn’t skimp on the bacon and the sandwich came on that grilled bun…a touch that is so important to us!

Laurie jumped out there…ordering the Smoked Philly Cheesesteak. ($8.95 with 1 side) This was smoked beef brisket with grilled onions, green peppers and mushrooms on toasted Texas toast with melted Swiss cheese.  For her side, she ordered the homemade potato chips.  She really liked her sandwich and we both love those decadent chips!  She would order this lunch again…

The last time we were at Bradley’s, when we’d ordered medium rare burgers we’d been asked to sign a liability waiver.  That had been a first for us!  I kind of missed that homey 21st century legal liability concern this time…

Based on the quality of Laurie’s brisket and my sampling of the various BBQ sauces, we’ve decided to pay Bradley’s Pit-Bar-B-Q another visit in the not too distant future and give their specialty another try…  This restaurant is located at 517 New Highway 68 in Sweetwater Tennessee.  Phone: 423-351-7190.  They are on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/BradleysPitBBQ.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

  1. Great looking burger. It's almost impossible to get any beef burger rare or medium rare in North Carolina, although you can get a bison burger cooked to your liking. I wish they had a piece of paper for us to sign. Dry, overdone burgers are just plain awful. We've stopped ordering burgers here for that reason. Bradley's sounds like a very nice place to stop for lunch.

  2. Happy Labor Day... Hope you are having a great day. We finally got some rain here this weekend (which we needed)--but this week promises to be a hot one... I'm SO ready for Fall...

Wow---Laurie's sandwich sounds TERRIFIC... Thanks for the suggestion. The only time we ate at Bradley's we got the Pulled Pork BBQ --and didn't care much for it... SO--when we go back, I'll get that Philly Cheesesteak. YUM... Thanks!!!!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  3. We've eaten at Bradley's a couple of times, but it;s been years ago. I really like the sound of Laurie's sandwich and may see what I can create here. Glad you had a good experience.
