We both
love hamburgers… However, most fast food chains fall short in delivering a
quality or sometimes even a decent hamburger.
If we had to rank the true fast food restaurant burgers, Hardee’s would
be #1 and Wendy’s would be #2. I like
Five Guys but Laurie’s not crazy about their burgers. For a fast casual burger, my wife loves Steak
‘n Shake! I think they’re just OK…
In any
case, we are always looking for the next great fast food burger. So when we found ourselves across the street
from a Mooyah burger fast food franchise in Knoxville, we just had to give it a
try!
Mooyah
is a fast casual restaurant chain based in Plano, Texas. MOOYAH was founded by 2 individuals in Plano
Texas, one of whom is also the founder of Texas based Tin Star Tex-Mex style
restaurants.
As of the end of this past February,
Mooyah operates 72 locations throughout the United States as well as several others
that have been opened or are slated to open soon in Canada, Mexico, Qatar, Oman,
Kuwait, The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Eleven more locations are set to be opening
in the USA in the near future.
The
inside of the restaurant is brightly painted and colorful. Our Mooyah’s was clean and the
servers/counter personnel were polite and helpful. With some minor exceptions, Mooyah only serves
burgers, French fries, salads, and milkshakes.
The exceptions include a hot dog plus a grilled cheese or chicken tenders
for children. The burger offerings
include both a Veggie burger and a Turkey burger…
I
ordered a Double Cheeseburger. ($7.39) I didn’t order any French Fries and I
wasn’t charged for them. A small order
of French Fries costs $2.59. The burger
was good and we both concurred that the French fries were very good! (Note: We both had so many French Fries on
our serving tray that we both could only finish about half of them…)
The buns at Mooyah's are baked in house. We both agreed that they have a 'pillow like texture'. Laurie really liked the bun but at this point I'm not quite sold on them.
Laurie
ordered a Mooyah Cheeseburger with mayo and pickles ($6.49) and a medium order of
French Fries, that we were to share. ($3.59)
I don't remember if they asked how you wanted your burger cooked but Laurie's was perfect and I thought that mine was a little past medium rare. Nevertheless, both burgers were juicy. Laurie really liked her burger…perhaps
because they are sort of ‘smashed’ when being grilled…somewhat like her favored
Steak ‘n Shake burger.
We’ll
have to return for another ‘test’ of Mooyah’s menu. I want to further compare their burger with
the competitors and we would both like to see if their Milk Shakes really
measure up to the hype! Mooyah’s in
Knoxville is open daily. It is located
at 7301 Kingston Pike. Phone:

Thanks
for stopping by to see what was for lunch!

The correct ranking: BurgerFi, Five Guys, Wendy's, and then Steak & Shake. Hardees is down in the next tier with Jack In the Box and SmashBurger and then comes the bottom tier with McDonalds and Burger King. Just saying...
ReplyDeleteI forgot about BurgerFi and our great experience with them in Omaha. I checked and we do have one here but it's way down in the middle of Knoxville. We'll have to pay it a visit anyway... I also agree with you re: Five Guys...but Nana doesn't agree. I agree with your order of things except with table service, Steak n Shake doesn't really fit the fast food picture very well...
DeleteSounds like you've discovered a good spot for a quick meal. I like the fresh baked bun idea.
ReplyDeleteI like they make thye buns there!
ReplyDeleteLooks really big and good!"
xo
Devin12, I've had Whataburgers and they are good...but not as good as Freddy's. Plus, there aren't any Whataburgers anywhere near us in East Tennessee. It would be a 2.5 hours drive to the nearest one in N.AL. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave
