A Lucky Save!!

So, as we neared Pittsburg Kansas, our taste buds were set for a major fried chicken experience. Roadfood and other guides laud the terrific fried chicken dinners in this area of Kansas. There are no less than six (6) restaurants in Crawford county that specialize in fried chicken! Chicken Mary's and Chicken Annie's are the most famous of the lot...

Well, guess what! None of these six fried chicken restaurants is open for lunch!

So, depressed, despondent and hungry, we drove through Pittsburg hoping to find some place where we could just get something decent to eat.

We drove up and down the main street in town, trying to determine where we should stop, order something to eat...and whine about what might have been!
Lady Luck came through for us! Napoli's Italian Restaurant was chosen by process of elimination.

First came this nice basket of flavorful rolls...

Then there was my huge Stromboli...stuffed with sausage, pepperoni and cheese. This was very tasty and it helped me forget the chicken dinner that we'd missed. Napoli's even had Tabasco for me! The tomato sauce was fresh and had a nice clean taste.

Laurie rolled the dice and ordered Ravioli with Lobster in a nice zesty red sauce... Laurie does't usually like red sauce, but she said that this was just as good as the lobster ravioli at Willie's in Seymour, Tennessee!

We'd lucked out again! Our tastebuds sated, we drove on...maybe we'll have the fried chicken the next time we pass through eastern Kansas!

Napoli Italian Restaurant is located in Pittsburg Kansas at 1301 North Broadway Street. Phone: 620-232-9494

  1. It's always great to stumble into a place with low or no expectations then have a really god meal.
